I
Still Miss Someone

By Rosanne Cash
One of the sweetest moments of my life
occurred several years ago, the last time my dad played Carnegie Hall. I had been a little
angry with him the day before the show and had brought up some old grievances, which he
listened to gracefully. He invited me to sing "I Still
Miss Someone" with him the night. I demurred. The day of
the performance I had a fierce headache and told him I could not do it. I went to his
hotel that evening before the show, he asked again. I declined, but as I watched him walk
out of the room I suddenly realized what it meant to him and agreed to sing the song. That
night, as we sang together all the old pain dissolved. I felt the longing to connect
completely satisfied. Under the lights, in the safety of a few thousand people who loved
us like crazy just then, I got something from my dad that Id been trying to get
since I was about six year old. I was truly magic, for both of us I dont think
weve ever been so close. Rosanne Cash

I Still Miss Someone
At my door the leaves are
falling
The cold wild wind will come
Sweethearts walk by together
And I still miss someone
I go out on a party
and look for a little fun but I find the darkened corner
Cause I Still Miss Someone
-------------
Though I never got over those blue
eyes
I see them everywhere
I miss those arms that me
when all the love was there
---------------
I wonder if shes sorry for leaving
what she begun theres someone for me somewhere And I Still Miss Someone
----------------
though I never got over those blue eyes
I see them everywhere I miss those arms
when all the love was there
I wonder if
shes sorry for leaving what she begun theres someone for me somewhere and I
Still Miss Someone
Through The Eyes Of A Fan
The song ( I Still Miss Someone ) is one of my most
favorite songs by Johnny Cash. It was on the flip side of the number one hit
( Dont take Your Guns to Town ) Columbia #41313 In 1/19/59. But surprising to me the song it self never charted, although
in later years some artist began to record the song. Joan Baez recorded it on her album
named, ( Joan Baez #5 VSD-79160 ) and on, ( Linda Ronstadts album ( For Country
Lovers - Realistic 51-7002 ) The song started out on the album ( Fabulous Johnny Cash -
Columbia CS - 8122 ) Johnny recorded it again on another Columbia album called
( I Walk The Line #
CS- 8990 ) he also did a version of it on an
( Earl Scruggs Revue #2 ) album, with Earl Scruggs
himself playing guitar.
and last but not least Johnny Cash
recorded it on the ( Storytellers CD in 1998 on the
American label - CK - 69416 ) with Willie Nelson
playing guitar. It was very pretty song in 1959 and now in 1998
The song was number one with me for 39
years. I never get tired of listening to the song I Still Miss Someone Steven Menke
