The success of Johnny Cash at San Quentin,
the follow up recording to his Folsom Prison album, created an
explosion in Johnny's popularity and propelled his career to the top of
the international entertainment world. He won five CMA awards and was
given his own television show by ABC
to commemorate sales
of over 2 million copies of the Columbia long-playing record album,
framed, awarded in 1987

Records, discusses Johnny Cash's record-smashing year of 1969 in his
autobiography, stating that Johnny Cash had sold a staggering six and a
half million albums, more than any individual artist had ever sold in one
year.
