Johnny Cash Unchained
Johnny Cash's Comments
Sometimes
at night. When I hear the wind I wish I was crazy again
I love song about horses, railroads, land, judgment day, Family,
hard times, whiskey, courtship, marriage, adultery, murder, war, prison, rambling,
damnation, home, salvation, death, pride, humor, piety, rebellion, patriotism, larceny,
determination, tragedy, rowdiness, heartbreak and love, and mother. Rusty Cage must fit in
some of these categories Johnny Cash
Mean Eyed
Cat

"Mean Eyed Cat", Took forty
years to write. I hadnt finished it in 1955 when, at the session, I sang the first
two verses for Sam Phillips. He said, Thats a keeper I like that, "he
said" But it isnt finished " He said its was good enough. I was
totally surprised when it was released not long afterwards. And all these years, every
time I would see the title in print, or hear the song on the radio, Id cringe. Never
once did do the song on stage, and as years passed it bugged me more and more that song
was unfinished. So About a year ago, I wrote the third verse. When I brought it to the
sessions, it was like a new song. Finally after 41 years, Im satisfied with the Mean
Eyed Cat

Rick
Rubin
Johnny Cash's Producer, And Founder Of
American Records Rick Rubin

Producer and label executive Rick
Rubin is moving his famed American Recordings, complete with back catalog
and current roster, from Columbia Records to Island Def Jam Music Group,
sources say. According to insiders, Island Def Jam has purchased Columbia's
50% stake in American to secure the entire catalog and roster, which
includes Johnny Cash, Slayer, Saul Williams, and the Jayhawks, among others.
Only Syste of a Down will remain with Columbia.

The first releases under the Island Def Jam deal are likely to be from
Williams and new act American Head Change, sources said. The move marks a
return for Rubin to Def Jam -- the label he started during the early 1980s
with Russell Simmons. During that period, Rubin signed such acts as LL Cool
J, the Beastie Boys, and Public Enemy to the imprint.
